Water Purifier/Filter
People living in areas where the running water is unsafe to drink rely on water-purification techniques to be able to drink clean water. These systems can also be helpful in areas where the water supply has an unusually high mineral content, as this can cause scale build-up in kettles and other household appliances. But what types of water purifiers/filters are available?
Faucet filters attach directly to a faucet in your home and filter the water as it comes out. Various manufacturers, such as GE, Brita, and Pur, offer devices of this type. Pitcher filters take a batch of water and allow it to drain slowly through a filter, collecting the filtered water in a pitcher for later use. Big brands include Brita, Pur, and Culligan.
Some refrigerators can also be fitted with a water filter — models from large manufacturers such as Whirpool, Brita, or Frigidaire remove lime scale, chlorine, and bad odors from water. The filter is fitted inside the door of the refrigerator and dispenses through a faucet, so that users can draw clean, cold water easily
